I greatly hate pretend-intellectuality and its siblings.
I've come across two tonight.
Tazo tea and Ben Lee.
I just saw the guy on TV for the first time while minding my own business on the internets. My initial reaction was: ah, he doesn't sound so bad, kind of an interesting voice to go with that crappy guitar melody. Guess what; that reaction lasted about 15 seconds. Not only did his voice get exponentially annoying, his face started going into all sorts of shapes. He made retarded noises while singing. Once given the chance, reading the BEYOND-sh*tty lyrics on caption, I can see INSTANTLY how full of himself the jerk was. I instantly googled "ben lee sucks" and got astonished at what I found. Now, I need not explain any further. Just go to urban dictionary and search him. Read the top posts. That is ^EXACTLY^ how I felt. In fact, I've written this post just so that everyone can read that urbandictionary entry. Seriously, if you like this guy, I feel sorry for you.
Now, Tazo tea is the Ben Lee of drinks. (You really have to read that post, you know)
I do not understand how starbucks can choose tazo as their main supplier (?) of tea. It is horrendous. I've tried it over and over again, giving it always another chance, but it's just bad. I JUST bought three more bottles of their iced tea at a grocery store sale, and their best has been below mediocre. (there is one exception among the flavors: berryblossom white)
Don't get me wrong ~ I'm a tea-person (see coffee-person vs tea-person). I'll eat and drink anything tea flavored. Particularly white tea and green tea, as my tastebuds generally prefer subtler, bland, lighter flavors in general. I also have a hobby of trying things I have not tried, so I buy and sample all sorts of tea drinks. Many flavors of powdered, fresh, store-made, canned, imported... I have not found anything as crappy as tazo.
Now, of course someone has to be the worst at doing something. The problem I have is with the attitude/image they're trying to create. Same thing goes with the guy above.
